About
Perry Hall Christian School (PHCS) is located on a 34 acre campus in Perry Hall, Baltimore County. The doors of Perry Hall Christian School opened for the first time in September of 1971. A ministry of Perry Hall Baptist Church, the school has provided excellent education for students in grades K3-12, giving young people a firm foundation in their faith and providing understanding as to how God wants them to live in the world.
Perry Hall Christian is approved by the State of Maryland and the faculty is composed of trained, dedicated teachers who believe that teaching in a Christian school is a ministry to which God has called them. Teachers work with students to emphasize intellectual development, Christian discipleship, and good character formation. Perry Hall Christian School is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Mid-Atlantic Christian Schools Association (MACSA).
In the elementary grades, students are given firm foundations in basic reading and mathematical skills. These vital concepts are reinforced by way of frequent drills and exciting classroom activities. In addition to academics, students in elementary school also take music, art classes, and physical education.
The middle school curriculum works to enforce important mathematical and literary concepts, while also challenging the students with introductions to more advanced elements. Middle school students are also given the opportunity to begin a foreign language or take on a more advanced math track. Students in middle school also take music, art, keyboarding (typing), and physical education as part of their curriculum.
At the high school level, students are exposed to a wide range of academic subjects and electives. Students also are given opportunities to take advanced courses in mathematics, science, Spanish, and computers. Students interested in taking classes focused around the arts have the opportunity to enjoy music classes such as chorus and praise band, art classes on numerous levels, creative writing, yearbook, sign language, speech, and drama.
Students at every grade level are required to take a Bible class each year in attendance at Perry Hall Christian. Bible curriculum, which includes a weekly chapel service, focuses on teaching students more about God and how they can grow in their relationship with Him. Textbooks are also chosen with great care and all subjects are taught from a biblical world view.
PHCS is a member of the Maryland Christian Athletic League, an organization of about ten Christian schools with which we compete. The school encourages students to participate in athletics as a way to learn sportsmanship and teamwork while applying Christian principles of character development, such as self-control. Sports offered include volleyball, basketball, soccer, and baseball.
PHCS students enjoy a wide range of extracurricular experiences, including participation in student council, chapels, class parties, drama and musical productions, science fair, art fairs, class unity day, and field day. Traditional social events include the junior-senior banquet, ring banquet, senior missions trip, high school ski trip, hayrides, and homecoming.
