“Who’s Watching Your Child?” By Kathy Johnson

Next week I’ll be heading back to work after being on maternity leave.  Our beautiful little Quinn is a blessing from God, strengthening my faith in Him more with each passing day.  This doesn’t negate the fact that I have a great deal of anxiety as I will soon be leaving her with someone to care for her while I work.  Fortunately, my husband and I have found a wonderful young Christian woman who will be looking after Quinn during our working hours.  Many of you reading this can identify with the anxiety that I face as you already have or soon will face dropping off your child at a new school.  Thankfully you too are fortunate to have loving Christian caregivers—and these caregivers include the teachers and staff of Perry Hall Christian School.
As a new parent, Proverbs 22:6 comes to mind, as it states that I am to train up my child in the way she should go.  I make no profession to be a theologian, but it suggests to me that in order for her to have the best chance of living a God honoring and righteous life, I am to do whatever is necessary to fully prepare my child for the world.  This wisdom literature suggests for me as a parent to make sure that all who are involved in her growth should be in line with how my husband and I believe she should be raised.  We’ve been blessed with this amazing child and we are constantly seeking His guidance in rearing this little girl that He has entrusted to our care.
This brings me to the teachers at Perry Hall Christian School.  All of the educators have a strong faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  Because of this faith that both the teachers and I share, I’m confident that they are teaching the world view that I want my daughter to know—through a biblical lens.  This biblical focus isn’t just found in Bible Class or Weekly Chapel, but spiritual growth is being fostered everywhere from the classroom to the athletic field.  One of our newer teachers recently remarked to my husband how refreshing it was to be able to freely talk about his faith at Perry Hall Christian School, unlike at other Christian Schools that he’d taught at.  In a world where we take so many things for granted—including our child’s education– I’m so thankful that our community has such a wonderful leading academic and spiritual institution like Perry Hall Christian School.
